Students are learning about how we can use technology to help others and create a more equitable world in STEAM. They began this investigation by designing a way to make Dash the Robot write, in groups. From here the older students will begin researching different ways in which technology helps people live a more fulfilling life, while the younger students will use technology to solve fairy tale problems.
This project was just as much about collaboration as critical thinking, as the students were in small groups and had to come to a consensus regarding how best to solve this problem and execute it. Interestingly enough, kindergarten and fifth graders were the most successful in this, but the other grades had to deal with a lot of strong emotions and frustrations working with others before they could build! We don't just work with robots on STEAM--students work on all the transferable skills!
